Car Park

Possibly the most boring structures on the planet.  Half of this is probably due to the fact that companies would rather spend their money on the lobbies and attached buildings – understandable – but there is something so disruptive about rows and rows of concrete blocks in the middle of the city.

This car park, however, is beautiful.  Think about how it would be to park here – grand and ornate ceilings, worn down but still stunning, and the echos would feel slightly eerie.  And the eerie part is probably the biggest feeling in this space.

This is the 1929 Michigan Theater in Detroit.  Poor Detroit – the run down city of the mid-West that is well known for its loneliness and abandonment in the design world.  Hauntingly stunning, isn’t it?
